FAQ

Northeast Ohio SRA is a pan-left, non-sectarian educational organization focused on firearms education, medical training, and mutual aid. We are not a militia and abide by all local, state, and federal laws.

We have a zero tolerance policy for any bigotry including but not limited to homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, racism, and sexism. We are made up of various leftist ideologies that unite around our many overlaps. Only Nazis, cops, and other bigots are not welcome.

As a provisional member you can attend chapter and caucus meetings, range days, mutual aid actions, and most trainings. You can chat in any room you have access to. The only things you cannot do as a provisional member are serve on committees, hold elected positions, or vote on chapter matters.

There is no time limit on provisional membership. Reach out to the Member Welfare Committee if you have questions or need help meeting the full member requirements.

To become a full member you must:

  • Attend at least 2 official meetings (local caucus or general chapter meeting)
  • Participate in at least 2 mutual aid actions with NEOHSRA comrades
  • Complete the NEOHSRA Mutual Aid Orientation. Contact the Mutual Aid Team to schedule.
  • Receive 2 vouches from full members you have met in person

Once you meet the other requirements, ask to be ascended and people will vouch for you. Full members are eligible to serve on committees.

NEOHSRA is a single chapter under one formal leadership, but we are also broken up into regional caucuses: Akron-Canton, Cleveland, and Youngstown. Each caucus functions a little differently and some have their own range days. Find your local caucus in the chapter chat and introduce yourself.

NEOHSRA's elected leadership positions are:

  • Treasurer, who handles the chapter's finances
  • Liaison, who handles communications with the national organization and other chapters
  • Secretary, who handles records, administrative tasks, and membership
  • Central Committee, which decides on day-to-day matters and regular business
  • Member Welfare Committee, which supports members and ensures a welcoming environment

You can reach any leadership member in the chapter chat.

Committees are open to full members. Current committees include:

  • Mutual Aid Committee, which organizes and facilitates mutual aid actions
  • Onboarding Committee, which interviews and onboards new members
  • Social Media Committee, which handles the chapter's online presence
  • Firearms Committee, which offers firearms and range safety trainings
  • OpSec Committee, which advises the chapter on security best practices
Start with your caucus Firearms Committee. Each caucus has one and can get you started. They may recommend a Pistol 101 course or an orientation on range etiquette depending on where you are starting from. Ask in your caucus chat.
